Visit Legislators

One barrier to gaining equal rights for transgender people is that too many of our public officials have never met transgender people or heard our stories. It is essential for our movement that we visit the elected officials who represent us.

Next Lobby Day: May 14-15, 2007

We invite you to join us for two days of training and lobbying in Washington, DC during one of the most critical Congressional sessions for transgender equality. With a trans-inclusive Hate Crimes bill passed last year in the House and an active effort underway to introduce a trans-inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) in Congress for the first time, the transgender community urgently needs to educate our legislators. Read our Special Edition newsletter for more information about the current issues and educational efforts now underway.

Establishing a relationship with your legislators is one of the best ways to get transgender issues on the national agenda and advance the causes that matter to our community. NCTE will give you the tools and training to make your lobby visits effective and enjoyable, including information on your members of Congress, policy briefings and expert skills trainings. We’ll even help you schedule appointments on the Hill.

We hope you’ll join NCTE and fellow transgender advocates from across the country at our annual Washington Lobby Days!

To register for this event, or for more information, please email Simon Aronoff at or call (202) 903-0112.
